Geniohyoid muscle

The Musculus geniohyoideus (Latin for " chin - Zung leg - muscle ") is a skeletal muscle of the head. It has its origin at the symphysis of the mandible and its approach to the hyoid bone. It serves the hyoid bone in the first phase of swallowing is to be preferred and is acting in conjunction with the digastric muscle and mylohyoid muscle. The innervation is carried by the first spinal nerve (C1), go to the muscle whose nerve fibers via the hypoglossal nerve ( cranial nerve XII).
