Genkō yōshi

GENKO Yoshi (Japanese原稿 用纸, German manuscript pages ) in Japan used sheets of paper for writing with a grid of boxes usually 200 or 400 square boxes on each side. Per one box is used for a character or a punctuation mark. GENKO Yoshi can be used with all common writing tools such as pencil, pen or writing brush, with or without Shitajiki (下敷き, dt writing pad ).

While GENKO Yoshi were formerly used for all kinds of documents literary style or even in everyday life, has become the preferred means of correspondence nowadays the computer. However, many programs GENKO Yoshi own templates. In addition, manuscript pages are currently still used extensively by students. Sometimes Yoshi GENKO are also recommended for learning the Japanese language in order to train the correct character spacing.

Form

Usually GENKO Yoshi for the vertical case (縦 書き, tategaki ) used, although it rotated 90 degrees, and for the horizontal case (横書き, yokogaki ) can be used. A manuscript leaf in B4-size forms with two 10 lines of 20 boxes a double page. Between the rows of boxes (rows) is space to add furigana ( ruby ). In the middle of the sheet, between the two sides is free space for folding or binding of manuscript pages.

Rules for the use

  • Before heading be left blank before each section at the beginning of the line per one box basically three.
  • Punctuation marks and brackets take a private box (exception: not to impair the legibility, they may not be in the first box of a line In this case, the punctuation or the clamp is written with the characters in the last box of the previous line.).
  • If the text in Latin characters are used, are two letters in a box.

  • Dotted and solid lines always extend over two boxes.
