Gennadius Scholarius

Gennadius II Scho Larios (originally Scho Georgios Larios ) (* 1405, † 1473 ) was the first ecumenical patriarch of Constantinople Opel ( 1454-1464 ) under Turkish rule. He was also the leading Greek Orthodox oriented Aristotelian theologian and controversialist of his time.

He was a connoisseur of Western philosophy and theology. Therefore His colleagues referred to him derisively as " the Latinist ." He commented Aristotelian and Neoplatonic texts and used them in the classroom.
