Gennady Alamia

Gennadi Alamia ( * 1949, in Kutol, Abkhazia, rus. Геннадий Аламия, Gennady Alamija ) is an Abkhaz politician, poet and playwright.

He studied physics and mathematics in the Abkhaz capital Sukhumi, but then moved to Moscow, where he studied at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute, where he completed his studies. There he learned the same age writer Denis Tschatschchalia know that many of Alamias works translated into Russian later.

Gennadi Alamia wrote after the declaration of independence of Abkhazia in 1992 the text to Aiaaira, the Abkhaz national anthem and in 2004 was involved in the founding of the Social Democratic Party of Abkhazia, whose leader he is today.

Gennadi Alamia published to date 9 volumes of poetry, six of them in the Abkhazian language, three in Russian.
