The field wreath gentian ( Gentianella campestris ), and field - fringed gentian or simply field gentian, is a flowering plant, which belongs to the Gentian family ( Gentianaceae ).

Description

The field wreath gentian flowers from June to October and is 5 to 30 cm high. He usually has branched stems. The flowers are purple and usually cruciform and are about 15-25 mm in size. The crown is made up of two larger and two smaller sepals.

This type is similar to the German Frans gentian, however, has fivefold flowers. Bloom time is from July to October

Occurrence

The plant prefers lean pastures, forest clearings and roadsides at an altitude 600-2700 m above sea level. The distribution area of European plant comprises the Alps and the Jura, where the field wreath gentian this occurs quite frequently. Some of these species is also common in Northern Europe, for example, to Iceland. In Austria, the plant is common in Styria, Tyrol and Vorarlberg.
