Geoff Davis

Geoffrey C. " Geoff " Davis ( born October 26, 1958 in Montreal, Canada) is an American politician. From 2005 to 2012, he represented the state of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Geoff Davis was born in Montreal, the son of American parents. He attended the public schools in West Pittsburgh ( Pennsylvania) and graduated in 1981, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. In the 1980s, he served as an officer of the United States Army Rangers in the Middle East. Until 1987 he was a member of the armed forces. In the following years he worked as a consultant and in crafts.

Davis became a member of the Republican Party. In 2002 he ran for the first time, yet unsuccessfully for Congress. In the congressional elections of 2004, he was then in the fourth electoral district of Kentucky in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Ken Lucas of the Democratic Party on January 3, 2005. After he was in all subsequent elections confirmed in each case, he could exercise his mandate until his resignation on 31 July 2012; a few months earlier he had already declared his waiver of a renewed candidacy. Davis was considered a conservative MP. He was most recently a member of the Committee on Ways and Means, and in two of its subcommittees.

Geoff Davis is married. With his wife he lives privately in Hebron, Kentucky.
