The Green Spanner ( Geometrinae ) are a large subfamily of the tensioner ( Geometridae ), which are counted among the moths within the butterflies.
Features
In this group, there are quite many butterflies for something unusual, green colored species. In addition within the group, the tendency to reduce the frenulum. Other common features are available in male and female genitalia and wing venation. However, there are also many exceptions here.
System
There are over 2,300 species within this subfamily. In Europe, there are about 40 species. In Central Europe, 13 species occur in 10 genera.
