Geoportal

A geoportal is a dedicated web portal that allows a search for and access to digital geographic information ( spatial data ) and geographic services (display, editing, analysis ) over the Internet using a web browser. A geoportal is thus an online geographic information system (GIS) and is an expression of a Web-GIS, in which the web browser acts as a GIS client.

Provider of geographic information such administrations or companies use geoportals to make their spatial data and metadata for potential users to access and use.
