Georg Bruckbauer

George Bruckbauer ( born July 23, 1900 in Vienna, † April 13, 1976 in Bühl (Baden) ) was an Austrian cinematographer.

Life

Bruckbauer attended the School of Graphic Arts and Research Institute in Vienna, where he received an education in photochemistry. He then spent two years intern at a Viennese graphic arts company.

In 1919 he took to the Viennese art film, then to the Vita- film, for which he worked until its bankruptcy in 1924. From 1924 to 1926 he turned newsreel films. In 1926 he moved to Berlin, where he soon rose to become chief operator.

After the seizure of power by the National Socialists, he retired to his native Austria, but soon went to Berlin again. Bruckbauer stood in a large number of film productions, usually typical entertainment films of this era, behind the camera. Only Helmut Käutner staging Romance in Minor by Guy de Maupassant falls out of the ordinary. Even in the 50s and early 60s, he was responsible for numerous feature films as a cameraman.
