Georg Koës

George Hendrick Carl Koës (* February 4, 1782 ( date of baptism ) in Antvorskov, † September 6, 1811 on the island of Zakynthos ( Zante) ) was a Danish classical philologist.

Koës studied at the University of Halle in Friedrich August Wolf philology. In 1806 he went with his friend Peter Oluf Brøndsted for two years, first to Paris and then to Italy. As of 1810, the two traveled to Greece with Otto Magnus von Stackelberg, Carl Haller von Haller stone, the painter Jacob Linckh ( 1787-1841 ) and George Christian Gropius. On this journey he died in 1811 on the island of Zante from pneumonia.
