Georg Malmstén

Georg Malmstén (* June 27, 1902 in Helsinki, Finland, † 25 May 1981 in Helsinki) was a Finnish singer, musician, composer, bandleader and actor. He belonged to the Swedish-speaking population of Finland, however, the name is also in the Finnish form of: Jori Malmsten.

Even as a child he was given awards for his cornet playing, during his army service in the Navy, he quickly made a career and has won 19 of Finland recently Music sergeant. He then studied opera singing, but also turned the light music and took in the course of his life, 842 songs to record on. Mid-1930s, he headed the famous Dallapé orchestra.

Soon he began to compose his own songs. His melodies were mostly written in minor ( soon he got the nickname " Molli Jori " ) and thus fully met the sentimental soul of the Finns. Some of his songs can certainly be attributed to folk song status. Malmsténs compositional imagination is remarkable, many of his songs not only consist of a verse melody and a chorus melody, but also from a third melody for an instrumental interlude.
