Georg von Vincke

Georg Freiherr von Vincke ( born May 15, 1811 in Haus Busch ( Hagen), † June 3, 1875 in Bad Oeynhausen ) was a German jurist and estate owners in the province of Westphalia.

Life

Vincke's parents were Ludwig von Vincke and Eleonore Wilhelmine Luise Friederike née von Syberg. He studied from 1828 to 1832 law at the Friedrich- Wilhelms- University of Berlin and the Georg-August -Universität Göttingen. In Göttingen he became in 1828 a member of the Corps Guestphalia. After serving as a one-year volunteer, he worked at courts in Berlin, Minden and Münster ( Westphalia). In 1832 he also became a member of the Corps Vandalia Rostock. He was sentenced in 1833 because of a duel to imprisonment, but was able to work in parallel to serve their sentences at the Minden City Court. From 1837 to 1848 he was District President of Hagen, parallel he farmed his own Busch Good.

In 1843 he became a deputy in the Westphalian Provincial Parliament, 1847 in the United State Parliament he became known as one of the leading Rhenish-Westphalian liberals. On 31 August 1848 he married in Wolfsburg Sophie Helene Berta von der Schulenburg ( born July 31, 1827 † August 18, 1905 ). From May 20th 1848 to May 24, 1849 he was a deputy for the 13th Westphalian constituency in the National Assembly in Frankfurt. There he was one of the spokesmen of the Café Milani, the conservative and large- German faction. He was a member of several committees.

At the time of the German Revolution 1848/49 he was sitting in the Gotha Assembly and in the Erfurt Union Parliament. In 1849 he became a deputy in Prussia's second chamber. In Berlin Vincke took a key position as a liaison between the Frankfurt National Assembly and the Prussian parliament. He first belonged to the conservative faction, but switched in 1852 to the left. He was one of the main opponents Otto Theodor von Manteuffel. On March 25, 1852 came to a pistol duel with Bismarck. From 1859 he was spokesman of the moderate liberals, who were referred to by his person as a party Vincke and later as Old Liberals. Vincke supported the policy of the new era and came after its end in conflict with the conservative policy of Otto von Bismarck.

From February to August 1867 Vincke sat in the Constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation. He died at age 64.
