Georg Winter

Georg Winter ( born 1941 in Hamburg) is a German manager and an environmental economist. He is considered the founder of an environmentally safe management approach in Germany. He was, among other tributes, 1995 awarded the German Environment Prize of the German Federal Environmental Foundation.

Life

After high school studied winter in Neuchatel, Paris and Hamburg Jura and wrote in 1973 the dissertation to liability of the shareholders in the bankruptcy of the undercapitalized GmbH. From 1968 onwards he was the managing partner of Ernst Winter & Sohn GmbH Norderstedt & Co, an engineering company that was owned by his family before. Early in his business career, he made ​​the environment one of its main concerns. Winter pointed to opportunities to integrate environmental protection in product development, marketing and procurement of materials and enforce (see also Integrated Product Policy ). In 1985, he led the first industrial building biology in Germany. In 1987 he published his book " The environmentally conscious company", which applies in business as a standard work for environmental protection and has been translated into thirteen languages. In all countries it was the first book on the subject. In 1991 he founded the International Network for Environmental Management (INEM ), now belong to him over 20 business associations Environmental Management. In 1995 he was honored for his involvement with the German Environmental Award of the German Federal Environmental Foundation.

As a result, he initiated the 1998, this house of tomorrow, a project that various non-profit organizations provides room that operate at the interface between industry and environmental protection. Since 2002, winter is also committed to the initiative SMALL ( Sustainable Management for All Local Leaders ). He is involved in the debate about the Muehlenberger hole in his Hamburg home.
