George F. Rogers

George Frederick Rogers ( born March 19, 1887 in Ontario, Canada, † November 20, 1948 in Cobourg, Canada ) was an American politician. Between 1945 and 1947 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Rogers attended the public schools of his native Canada and in Rochester, New York. Since 1899 he lived in Rochester, where he was 1911-1943 grocer. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. In 1934 and 1935 he was District in Monroe County; 1937 to 1938 he sat in the Senate from New York. Between 1942 and 1948 he was a member of the Genesee State Park Commission.

In the congressional elections of 1944, Rogers was the 40th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of the Republican Walter G. Andrews on January 3, 1945. Since he has not been confirmed in 1946, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1947. During this time, ended the Second World War.

In 1948, George Rogers applied unsuccessfully to return to Congress. He died a short time later on November 20 this year in Cobourg and was buried in Rochester.
