George Goddard (footballer)

George Goddard ( born December 20 1903 in Gomshall, Surrey, † April 1987) was an English football player on the position of a striker. With 177 goals he scored in 243 point games, he is the most successful striker in the history of Queens Park Rangers, where he was 1926-1933 under contract.

Life

By the age of 22 years Goddard played for Redhill FC in the Athenian League, an amateur football competition for clubs from Greater London.

In 1926 he received his first professional contract with the counterparties located in West London, Queens Park Rangers, where he was until 1933 under contract.

He then played for their neighboring club Brentford FC (1933 /34), then for Sunderland (1934 /35) and last for Southend United, where he trailed off his sports career.

Later Goddard worked as a confectioner and tobacconist in Molesey, Surrey.
