George Haslam

George Haslam ( born February 22, 1939 in Preston, Lancashire ) is a British baritone saxophonist of the avant-garde, creative jazz and new music improvisation.

Work

George Haslam plays out his main instrument, the baritone saxophone Tárogató, an old Hungarian wind instrument. He worked throughout his career with Steve Lacy, Borah Bergman, Charlie Mariano, Bobby Carcassés, Evan Parker, Lol Coxhill, Paul Rutherford, Elton Dean, Harry Beckett, Joachim Kühn, Howard Riley, Laszlo Gardony, Arturo Sandoval, Mal Waldron ( Waldron Haslam and Two -new on Slam, 1994) and many other musicians. He founded the independent record label, Slam, not only his own productions appear on the plate since 1989, but numerous albums of British, American, Japanese and Argentine jazz musicians.

Haslam is conducted in Japanese Encyclopaedia of Jazz ranked 19th in their list of " All-time World's Greatest Baritone Saxophonists ". He earned not only as an instrumentalist, but also as an organizer in the British jazz scene merits.
