George III, Landgrave of Hesse-Itter

George III. of Hesse- Itter ( born September 29, 1632 Darmstadt, † July 19, 1676 on a farm Lauterbach at Vöhl ) was the second son of the Landgrave George II of Hesse- Darmstadt and his wife Sophie Eleonore of Saxony ( 1609-1671 ).

After the death of his father in 1661, he received from his brother Louis VI. as Paragium the Itter to Vöhl on the middle Eder in the former Ittergau in northern Hesse. Since parts of Itter were pledged to third parties, George also received a compensation of 1,500 guilders. On George's pleas raised Landgrave Louis VI. already on September 12, 1661 Vöhl to a market town with the right to hold an annual three markets.
