George Kremer

George Kremer ( born November 21, 1775 in Middletown, Pennsylvania, † September 11, 1854 in Middleburg, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1823 and 1829 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

George Kremer was a nephew of Governor Simon Snyder ( 1759-1819 ). After studying law and qualifying as a lawyer, he started in Lewisburg to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic-Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1812 and 1813 he sat as an MP in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. In the 1820s he joined the movement to the later U.S. President Andrew Jackson.

In the congressional elections of 1822 Kremer was the ninth constituency of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John Brown on March 4, 1823. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1829 three legislative periods. These were characterized by the intense discussions between supporters of President John Quincy Adams and those of Andrew Jackson.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, George Kremer withdrew from politics. He died on September 11, 1854 in Middleburg.
