George Millay

George D. Millay ( born July 4, 1929 † 7 February 2006 in San Diego, California ) was an American entrepreneur and founder of SeaWorld and Wet ' n Wild.

Millay began his career as a restaurant owner and always had the vision to establish an underwater zoo. His first SeaWorld park, he opened in 1964 in San Diego with an orca named Shamu as an attraction. He later opened two other SeaWorld parks in Ohio in 1970 and Orlando in 1973. He also assisted in the development of Magic Mountain.

In 1977 Millay developed the Wet ' n Wild theme park in Orlando, Florida. Millay was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions ( IAAPA ) 1994. Ten years later he got from the World Waterpark Association, the Award 's Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1998 he sold his company.

Millay died of lung cancer.
