George Pargiter, Baron Pargiter

George Albert Pargiter, Baron Pargiter, of Southall in the London Borough of Ealing CBE DL (* March 16, 1897, † 16 January 1982) was a British Labour Party politician, who for over twenty years a Member of the House of Commons and was 1966 as a Life peer because of the Life peerages Act 1958 a member of the House of Lords was.

Life

Pargiter began his political career for the Labour Party in local politics and was 1934-1965 Member of the Council of the County of Middlesex. He was first elected as a Labour candidate in the general election of July 5, 1945 as Member of Parliament in the House of Commons and represented in this first of the electoral district of Spelthorne, before after the general election of 23 February 1950 until his mandate waiver on 10 March 1966 the constituency represented Southall. He was also from 1959 to 1960 Chairman of the County Council of Middlesex, and in 1963 Chairman of the Executive Council of the Association of County Councils ( County Councils Association).

Almost three months after his departure was Pargiter, who was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire, and at times was a deputy lieutenant of the county, by a Letters Patent of June 9, 1966 due to the House of Lords Act 1958 as Life peer with the title Baron Pargiter, of Southall raised in the London Borough of Ealing to the peerage. Its introduction ( Introduction) in the upper house was on the side of George Lindgren, Baron Lindgren and Arthur Champion, Champion Baron on June 22, 1966. He was so until his death in the House of Lords as a member.
