George R. Lawrence

George Raymond Lawrence ( born February 24, 1868 in Ottawa, Illinois, † December 15, 1938 ) was a photographer from Northern Illinois. He grew up in Kankakee County, and moved to Chicago in 1890, an invention relating to fixing of iron rim where he made his employer on wooden wheels. In 1891 he began working as a portrait photographer. From 1896 he had previously shared with a business partner studio for themselves. He improved the mix of luminous powder for flash lamps magnesium base such that it burned bright and brighter with less smoke, so it was also called the father of flash photography.

In 1900 he built in Chicago the greatest camera in the world. The " mammoth " weighed 600 kg, and was attended by 15 people.
