George Siemens

George Siemens is a Canadian learning theorists. He is considered the founder of connectivism.

Siemens is the director of " Learning Technologies Centre " at the University of Manitoba in Canada. He was known for his article Connectivism: A Learning Theory for the Digital Age and his 2005 published book Knowing Knowledge, in which he worked up his theory, the connectivism. In 2008 Siemens and Stephen Downes, who worked mainly on the theory of connectivism created, the first online course konnektivistisches learning.
