George Steinmetz

George Steinmetz ( * 1957 in Beverly Hills, California ) is an American nature photographer. He is particularly known for his aerial photographs with a motorized paraglider.

Life

Steinmetz studied geophysics at Stanford University in Stanford, California.

For his photography Steinmetz received the Pictures of the Year, from the Overseas Press Club and Life Magazine 's Alfred Eisenstaedt Award. 1995 and 1998, he also received the first prize in the categories of science and technology from World Press Photo. In addition to National Geographic, he works for Architectural Digest, Conde Nast Traveler, GEO and Stern.

Steinmetz lives with his wife, the journalist Lisa Bannon, and his three children in Glen Ridge, New Jersey.
