Georges Gilson

Georges Edmond Robert Gilson (* May 30, 1929 in Paris) is Emeritus Archbishop of Sens and retired prelate of the Mission de France o Pontigny.

Life

Georges Gilso received on 21 April 1957 Emile- Arsène Blanchet ordained a priest and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Paris.

Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 13 July 1976 for the Titular Bishop of Benda and auxiliary bishop in Paris. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal François Marty on October 9 of the same year; Co-consecrators were the Auxiliary Bishops Robert Frossard and Daniel Pézeril.

On August 13, 1981, Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Le Mans and on 2 August 1996 to the Archbishop of Sens, and the prelates of the Mission de France o Pontigny. At 31 December 2004, John Paul II took his on the grounds of age pre- mounted resignation. Archbishop Gilson is honorary canon of the Paderborn Metropolitan Chapter.
