Georgios Fotakis

Georgios Fotakis (Greek Γιώργος Φωτάκης; born September 18, 1986 in Kalamata, Giorgos Fotakis also ) is a Greek football player.

Association

Already in his youth moved Georgios Fotakis to PAOK Thessaloniki and was taken there in 1999 in the Erstligakader. When he did not come there to use, he went into the winter break to second division Kallithea FC and after a further six months in the capital Athens to Egaleo AO.

In the club the attacking midfielder from the beginning belonged to the tribe of the first team and once in the first season 2000/2001 they achieved promotion to the Alpha Ethniki, the first Greek league. Three years later, the team with 5th place in the championship reached the second best result in the club's history and Fotakis played the following year with the club in the group stage of the UEFA Cup. After five and a half years at Egaleo he tried to move abroad to the Scottish FC Kilmarnock, but where he could not sit down and returned again after half a year in the winter of 2005 /06.

It was followed by three years at AE Larisa with the highlight winning the Cup in 2007. Fotakis then returned to his youth club PAOK Thessaloniki. In the 2009/10 season he celebrated with the team's runner-up, and therefore the first time played the following year in the Champions League qualifiers. In the championship, one was third in 2011 and qualified for the Europa League. Eight times came Fotakis used before PAOK was eliminated in the round of 32.

In the summer of 2013 Fotakis moved to the second Turkish league to Şanlıurfaspor. He left this club to the next round and went back instead to Atromitos Athens.

National

Georgios Fotakis has been discovered as a teenager for the national selection team. Several times he played in the U -21 Greece and was part of the team that represented the hosts at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. After him, however, not made ​​the jump to the senior national team. It was not until his move to PAOK Saloniki he came back into focus by coach Otto Rehhagel, who first called him in September 2009 at a World Cup qualifying match in the team and put him on October 14, the first time a half long.
