Geoxus

The long- clawed mole mouse ( Geoxus valdivianus ) is a living in South America rodent species from the group of the New world.

Long claws mole mice are adapted to a grave lifestyle, small animals. They reach a body length 9-11 cm, the tail is 3 to 5 centimeters relatively short. The weight is 20 to 40 grams. The mole -like coat color is uniformly dark. Named giving feature are up to 7 mm long claws of the front legs. The skull is delicate and elongated.

These animals live in southern South America from the middle of Chile and Argentina to the Strait of Magellan. They prefer moist habitats such as forests and meadows, but avoid steppe areas. You create pathways to below ground, but also use other animals. You can go looking for food both during the day and at night, their diet consists of earthworms and beetles and other insects.
