Geographical Location

Gerabronn is 422-460 meters above sea level on a hill in the Hohenlohe plain.

Neighboring communities

The city is bordered to the north by Blaufelden, to the east by Rot am See, in the south to the cities of Kirchberg an der Jagst and Ilshofen and the community Wolpertshausen and to the west by the town of Langenburg.

History

Gerabronn evolved from a village which was probably founded in the 10th century. Originally called Gerhiltebrunnen, it was also referred to as Gerolzbrunn, Gerold Brunn, Gerltbrunn or Gerhart Brunn, came up in the 17th century to the present name in use. The village was first mentioned in 1226, when the area came under the rule of the Bishop of Würzburg. It belonged 1500-1806 the Frankish kingdom circle.

Gerabronn 1712-1714 was affected by witch hunts. Two people were caught in a witch trial, but were pardoned.

Until the 19th century Gerabronn was just a village, but after it became the seat of a 1811 Oberamts, it was responsible for managing the environment. Traffic

Between 1900 and 1996 Gerabronn and upper hamlets were connected to the railway line Blaufelden -Langenburg on the railway network.
