Gerald Kaufman

Gerald Kaufman ( born June 21, 1930 in Leeds ) is a British politician ( Labour Party ).

Kaufman studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics at the University of Oxford. Since 1970, he sits for the Labour Party as a deputy in the lower house of the British Parliament. Abroad, Gerald Kaufman is primarily known as a Jewish critic of the Israeli occupation.

Kaufman was from 1974 to 1979 served as Secretary of State in various Labour cabinets. In the Thatcher era after 1979, he was for many years " Shadow Foreign Secretary " of the Labour opposition. He is a member of Poale Zion, the organization of the socialist Zionists in Britain since his youth.
