Gerard (crater)

Gerard is an impact crater on the far northwestern edge of the lunar front side, north of the crater von Braun and Lavoisier, on the western edge of Oceanus Procellarum. The crater wall is heavily eroded and partly covered by secondary craters. To the northwest are the two much larger, intermeshed Wall levels Gerard Q Inner and Outer Gerard Q.

On the western edge of Inner Gerard Q runs mainly in a northerly direction through the wall plane of Gerard Q Outer creasing system of Rimae Gerard.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Scottish explorer Alexander Gerard.
