Gerard de Korte

Gerard Johannes Nicolaus de Korte ( born June 13, 1955 in Vianen, The Netherlands) is Bishop of Groningen- Leeuwarden.

Life

Gerard Johannes Nicolaus de Korte was consecrated on September 5, 1987 in St. Aloysius Church in Utrecht by the cardinal priest with the titular church of San Clemente, Adrianus Johannes Simonis priest. He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Utrecht and Titular Bishop of Caesarea in Mauretania on 11 April 2001. The bishop of Utrecht Adrianus Johannes Cardinal Simonis ordained him on June 2, the same year as bishop; Co-consecrators were Johannes Gerardus Maria Willebrands cardinal, Archbishop Emeritus of Utrecht and President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, and Johannes Antonius de Kok, OFM, Auxiliary Bishop of Utrecht. His motto is Confidens in Christ.
