Gerard Joling

Gerard Joling ( born April 29, 1960 in Alkmaar ) is a Dutch pop singer.

Biography

Joling had begun at a young age but as a catwalk model, the goal of a singing career he pursued next insistent. He took singing lessons and searched long in vain for a record company. First recordings as a vocalist with various groups were unsuccessful.

In 1985 his persistence paid off. In the popular television show Soundmixshow he landed with his version of the pop song Crying by Don McLean at No. 3, reaching as much notoriety that he carried began with his first single: With Love Is in Your Eyes, he landed in the top 5 of the Dutch charts, the second single ticket to the Tropics even became a number 1 hit. The associated album reached gold status.

In 1988 he took part for the Netherlands at the Grand Prix Euro Vision and although he also reached here with his title Shangri- La is an average number 9, this performance helped him on the international music stage.
