Gerard López

Gerard López Segú ( born March 12, 1979 in Granollers ) is a Spanish football player. He is currently with the Spanish side Recreativo Huelva under contract.

Career

Association

His professional career started in 1996, the midfielder for the second team of FC Barcelona. The following season he moved to FC Valencia. In his first season with the Los Ches As he held only the role of the substitute players and only eleven inserts ( 0 goals) came, the club decided to a lending transaction. In the 1998/99 season he should gather at CD ALAVES match practice to return the following year back to Valencia. He managed to do and it developed at Alavés top performer. In Valencia, now became more and more built for him and he won a regular place, before he re- signed a contract signed in 2000 with his youth club, FC Barcelona. The change was Barcelona worth € 24 million. With the FCB 2005 he could win the Spanish championship. Five years he remained in Barcelona until 2005. After a two- year stint in the French top club AS Monaco Gerard López moved in summer 2007 to the Spanish side Recreativo Huelva. In the Spanish home they took him, however, only a year and he decided to a renewed move abroad. In summer 2008, Lopez joined the Greek first division club PAOK Thessaloniki.

National

López played six times for the Spanish selection. Overall, get him two hits. All his performances for Spain took place in 2000. In the same year he also belonged to the squad for the European Football Championship in Holland and Belgium. The team failed in the quarterfinals at the eventual champions France. Lopez came off the bench in this game in the 77th minute. This was his only use during the tournament.
