Geography
Geographical Location
Geratskirchen lies in the region Landshut in a small side valley of the Rott and bordered to the south of Upper Bavaria. The small village Geratskirchen located about 13 km southwest of Eggenfelden, 30 km southeast of Vilsbiburg, 18 km north-east of Mühldorf and 16 km north Altöttings.

History
In 1347 Elizabeth of Geratskirchen Rudiger married Maroltinger. The Maroltinger or Moroltinger had the Hofmark Geratskirchen about 300 years. On February 24, 1637 took over Johann Mändl to and interpreting Hoven possession, to the after his death on August 12, 1666, his son Hans Ulrich and 1686, after his death, his son Anton Josef Adam Mändl, Baron and interpretation Hoven, Lord of Münchsdorf, Wolfsegg, Forest mountain, Regenpeilstein and Geratskirchen followed.
The village was part of the Electorate of Bavaria, but formed a closed Hofmark whose seat was Geratskirchen. Charlotte Countess of Spreti from the home of the Barons of Ingenheim acquired the fief in 1729. In 1752, the ducal seats Geratskirchen and Wolfsegg were shared, new owners were the barons of quadrangle. This also exerted the lower courts. In 1752 the village Geratskirchen scored 20 estate. On December 23, 1778 was Franz Nono Adam Freiherr von Mändl the fief to Geratskirchen and Wolfsegg, which was acquired in 1780 by Count Arco.
In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community, initially divorced in the patrimonalgerichtliche community Geratskirchen I and the district court community Geratskirchen II Municipalities Geratskirchen I and II were combined on 16 December 1848. The lower jurisdiction of Count Arco was only lifted in the same year 1848.
1955 Geratskirchen II was again independently and on August 3, 1956 renamed Forest at Winhöring in community. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria is divided forest on 1 January 1972 after a Pleiskirchen. Since May 1, 1978 Geratskirchen belongs to the administrative community Massing.

Culture and sights
The late-Gothic parish church of St. Martin was built in 1472 and 1880 extended to the west. It has Gothic and Baroque figures. Attachment to the northern part of the church was carried out in 1908 and " Lourdes Grotto " on the inside than with " tuff ".
