Gerd Jüttemann

Gerd Jüttemann ( born December 7, 1933) is a German psychologist. He is the founder of the employed in the social sciences qualitative research method " Comparative casuistry ".

Life

Jüttemann studied psychology at the Universities of Cologne, Bonn, Innsbruck and Kiel. In 1974 he was appointed professor at the Technical University of Berlin. Here he taught, especially the subjects personality psychology, clinical psychology, Psychometrics and Methodology.

Work

Jütte 's work focuses autogenesis and biographical research, historical psychology, personality psychology, and qualitative research methods (eg comparative case report ). He sees psychology is not primarily as a natural science, but primarily as a human science. Citing Wilhelm Wundt, he emphasizes that "a psychology that hides the substance of the soul and is limited to the quantitative study of functional relationships, must remain incomplete and imperfect psychology because it evades its main objects ". Jüttemann is co-editor of the journals Journal of Psychology and " Psychology and History" and the book series " Philosophy and Psychology in Dialogue" and " Psychology and Work" ( both series published by Cambridge University Press ). He is also active in the Scientific Board of the European Journal of Developmental Science and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Forum Qualitative Social Research [ FQS ].
