Gerd Sannemüller

Gerd Sannemüller (* October 19, 1914 in Heiligenstadt / calibration field, † June 13, 2008 in Kiel ) was a German composer, pianist and musicologist.

Life

Sannemüller put his Abitur in Stralsund. He studied musicology with Arnold Schering and Georg Schünemann, history, philosophy and psychology at the Friedrich -Wilhelms -Universität zu Berlin and music education at the University for Music Education and Church Music in Berlin. He took the examination for the higher teaching. He then worked as Studienassessor and pianist in Belin. During World War II he was drafted into military service. Later he studied musicology with Hans Albrecht, Friedrich Blume and Kurt Gudewill, history and psychology at the University of Kiel. He received his doctorate in 1961 ml of the work, the piano works of Maurice Ravel Dr. phil. in Kiel.

He was an instructor at the Pedagogical University of Flensburg and since 1962 at the Pedagogical University of Kiel. From 1965 to 1983 he was professor of musicology and music didactics as well as director of the Institute for Music and its didactics in Kiel. He was interested in the composer Maurice Ravel, Paul Hindemith and Béla Bartók and Witold Lutosławski Polish contemporary music and Karol Szymanowski. He was in contact with the Austrian composer Gottfried von Einem. Sannemüller was editor of singing and playing music of Hindemith Complete Edition, and co-author of the Hindemith Yearbooks of the Hindemith Institute. He was also a foreign author of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. His compositions are performed regularly in the Theater Kiel. His brother is the violinist Horst Sannemüller, he often accompanied on the piano.
