Gerhard Breitenberger

Gerhard Berger width ( born October 14, 1954) is a former Austrian football player from Golling an der Salzach.

Career

Gerhard Breitenberger went to his home in the elementary and secondary school. He received his professional training in the College of Engineering in Hallein. He made ​​his Bundesliga debut in the season 1974/75 for the SK VÖEST Linz. 1976/77 the defender moulted to the absolute starting player, played all season games for the Linzer and also debuted on 15 December 1976 in the Austrian national team in a 3-1 victory over Israel in Tel Aviv. He qualified success with the national team for the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, was there even in the first four games for use, including wins over Spain and Sweden.

After the World Cup Gerhard Breitenberger accepted an offer from the Belgian second division club Racing Mechelen, but returned after only a few months back to Austria and went to Salzburg Austria. Here Breitenberger remained sedentary, played until 1984/85 in the first division. Biggest successes at club level were reaching the OFB - Cupfinales 1980 and 1981, but both went as well in 1978 with VÖEST narrowly lost. Gerhard Breitenberger now lives in Salzburg.

His son Gerhard Berger width is also a professional football player and plays for SV Fried Castle (as of 2014).
