Gerhard VI of Jülich, Count of Berg and Ravensberg

Gerhard I of Jülich- Berg ( † May 18, 1360 ) was Count of Berg and Berg Ravens.

He was the eldest son of Count William V of Jülich. In 1338 he married Margaret of Ravens mountain mountain, heiress of the two counties. 1346 Gerhard came into Ravens Mountain, 1348 in the mountain to the rule.

This included those areas that is justified by Gerhard branch line of the Jülich dynasty, which in turn in the 15th century inherit the Duchy of Jülich from the main line and so produce the complex area Jülich -Berg mountain Ravens should. But during his lifetime Gerhards developed between mountain and Jülich a close bond with keen economic exchange.

It was the purchase of further territories: 1355 came the reign Hardenberg Neviges and Langenberg added, in 1358 the city and Customs Kaiserwerth. 1359 took over the county the mountain Fronhof Solingen including the tithes and advowson of knight Heinrich Oefte (or Henry of Oeft ).

Gerhard was fatally injured on May 18, 1360 a skirmish near Schleiden by Count Arnold of Blankenheim and later buried in the Altenberg Cathedral.
