German Avenue Road

The German Avenues Route is an all over Germany - from the Baltic to the Bodensee - leading, about 2,900 km long tourist route that runs primarily through avenues. It is Germany's longest scenic route. Is supported by the project of the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft German Avenues Route eV ", which is composed of ADAC, the German Tourism Association and the Protection of German forest and other institutions. Considerably advanced, it was from the forest scientist Hans Joachim Fröhlich.

The aim of the consortium is the preservation, protection and maintenance of avenues in Germany and the restoration of old alleys after they have been destroyed in recent years through the development of roads in many places.

The first section of the German Avenues Route between Rügen and Rheinberg was inaugurated on 3 May 1993.
