German Basketball Cup
The Association Cup of Men was donated by the German Basketball Federation (DBB) 1966. The first final of the DBB Cup the men then took on June 11, 1967 in Oberhausen between VfL Osnabrueck and the ATV 1877 Dusseldorf 86:74 ( 39:36 ) instead. From the year 2010, the National Basketball League played from its own cup competition as League Cup. The cup competition of the DAR in 2010 was the last time held without the participation of top-flight clubs.
The foundation of the club goblet of women took place eight years later in 1972.
Since 1993, among men and 1995 for women the semi -final and final matches will be played in a tournament as a top 4 on a weekend. For the 2009/2010 season the Cup mode with men has been greatly changed. Unterklassige teams do not participate in the new League Cup. The organizer of the Top 4 is automatically set as the participants. The remaining three starting positions are determined in three " quarter-finals " of the best teams in the first round. In the 2009/2010 season of DBB taught once a separate cup with second division and amateur teams as participants. Again, the winner was determined in a Top 4. For a second edition, the participants were missing. In the official lists of the association conducts the winner of the League Cup as a trophy winner.
