German Finance Agency

The Federal Republic of Germany - Finance Agency (short: German Finance Agency ) is a financial services company owned by the Federal Republic of Germany.

History

The company was formed on 19 September 2000 by amending the partnership agreement of 29 August 1990 from the Berlin CVU system house settlement mbH and is headquartered in Frankfurt am Main.

Since 2001, the Finance Agency performs as a central service by the large corporate business in the borrowing of the German state and its debt management. On 1 August 2006, she was (formerly Federal Debt Administration ) merged with the former Federal Securities Administration. Since then offered the Finance Agency also for private investors the free book-entry management for Federal securities in the form of a book-entry account and their toll-free acquisition, similar to the U.S. Treasury Direct program. By 2003, this task was not perceived by the Deutsche Bundesbank.

Since 1 July 2008, the Finance Agency Sales Day-Bonds of the Federal Republic of Germany for private investors.

2011 good 98.4 % of the outstanding volume of federal government securities of a total of 1.093 trillion euros on the collective debt register account of the CSD (Clearstream ) were entered, were thus held in a bank deposit and not on individual book-entry accounts at the Finance Agency. At the end of 2012, the finances of the agency then a new business with private investors.

Tasks, manager, shareholder

The state-owned company fulfills tasks in the operations and cash federal funding, previously performed locally by the Federal Ministry of Finance, the Bundesbank and the Federal Securities Administration. These include services in the issuance of Federal securities, borrowing means of promissory notes, the use of derivative financial instruments and money market operations to offset the Federal Republic of Germany account at the Bundesbank.

CEO of the German Finance Agency are Dr. Tammo Diemer and Carsten teaching. The sole shareholder of the financial agency of the federal government, represented by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
