Gerónimo Giménez

Jerónimo Giménez y Bellido ( born October 10, 1854 in Seville, † February 19, 1923 in Madrid) was a Spanish violinist and composer.

Life

The age of twelve he was first violinist in the orchestra of the Teatro Principal his hometown and took over five years afterwards, his authority. Scholarship enabled him to study in Paris, where he won first prizes in harmony and composition. He then came to Italy to Madrid, where he was an influential promoters in Ruperto Chapí y Lorente. He took over the leadership of the orchestra of the Teatro de la Zarzuela in this genre and its future should be. From 1887 to 1920 he composed a year more of these stage works, including some along with especially Amadeo Vives, but also with other composers.

He created almost exclusively zarzuela and showed himself a master of this form, since he was both a technically excellent composer who knew sent the orchestral sound and to use effectively, on the other hand, an ear for the Spanish folk music had he repeatedly effectively incorporate into his works knew. These because of their long-term success are the works " De vuelta del vivero " (1895 ), " La boda de Luis Alonso " (1897 ) and "La Tempranica " ( 1900).
