Gerrie Mühren

Gerardus " Gerrie " Dominicus Hyacinthus Maria Mühren [ ˌ ɣɛʁi my: ʁə ( n )] ( born February 2, 1946 in Volendam, † September 19, 2013 ) was a Dutch football player. He played in midfield.

Career

Mühren began his career at FC Volendam, before joining Ajax in 1968. With Ajax, he was three times Dutch champion and cup winner and winner in the European Cup of Champions. In 1976 he moved to Real Betis. His career ended with Seiko, a football club from Hong Kong. After his playing career he became a coach in the Ajax youth.

For the Dutch national team, he played ten games.

His younger brother Arnold was also a professional footballer and was with the Netherlands in 1988 European Football Championship.

Until his illness to myelodysplastic syndrome Mühren worked as a scout for AFC Ajax. He succumbed to the disease in September 2013 at age 67.
