Gerry O'Sullivan

Gerry O'Sullivan ( * April 1, 1936; † August 5, 1994 ) was an Irish politician of the Irish Labour Party.

Life

O'Sullivan, who was a professional worker in a factory as well as a security officer, was initially active in local politics and a longtime member of the city council of Cork ( Cork City Council). Once he was in place of Dan Wallace Lord Mayor of Cork (Lord Mayor ) 1986-1987, he began his national political career with an unsuccessful candidacy for the Irish Labour Party at the general election in 1987.

In the general election on 15 June 1989, he was the best result in the other constituency candidates for deputies ( Teachta Dala ) in the lower house ( Dáil Éireann ) and represented in this until his death on August 5, 1994 constituency Cork North - Central. In addition, he was re-elected in the municipal elections on 27 June 1991 with the best result in the constituency Cork North West as a member of the City Council of Cork.

Between 14 January 1993 and with his death, he was also the Minister of State in the Ministry of the Navy for port development, safety responsible at sea and inland fishing and was a member of the Prime Minister ( Taoiseach ) led coalition government of the Irish Labour Party and Fianna Fáil.
