Gertrude of Sulzbach

Gertrude of Sulzbach (* 1110, † April 14, 1146 in Hersfeld ) was a Roman - German queen.

Gertrude was the daughter of Count Berengar I. Sulzbacher and Adelheid of Unterdießen -Wolfratshausen. Her siblings proposals included Bertha of Sulzbach, who was under the name Irene wife of Emperor Manuel of Byzantium. Well 1135/36 was the marriage with the later Roman-German King Conrad III. closed. Less plausible are attempts dating back to the beginnings of the monastery Ebrach from late medieval tradition that an ostensibly to 1132 to be applied in Conrad and Gertrude's involvement in the founding of zisterze it reasonable to assume a closed already at this time marriage. From her marriage to Conrad III. they had two sons Heinrich and Friedrich Berengar IV After the birth of her son Frederick became ill Gertrude and probably died at the age of 36 years in the monastery of Hersfeld. She was buried in the Cistercian monastery Ebrach.
