Gesellschaft für Didaktik der Mathematik

The Society for the Teaching of Mathematics ( short GDM ) is a scientific association with the aim to promote the teaching of mathematics in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and to cooperate with similar institutions in other countries. It was founded in 1975 in Saarbrücken at the annual conference of Mathematics Education.

The GDM is managed by a board of directors and an advisory board. First Chairman since March 2013 Rudolf from the court of the University of Bielefeld (predecessor from 2007 to 2013: Hans -Georg Weigand, University of Würzburg ). Within the GDM, there are numerous working groups, where even non-members can participate.

The GDM is an international scientific journal that, the "Journal of Mathematics didactics " (JMD ) which appears twice a year, as well as an online edition is available. It also organizes an annual annual meeting, which is an important conference for mathematics education in Germany.
