Geum River

Daecheong Dam

The Geumgang ( " River of Gold ", "Diamond River ", sometimes also called short- Geum ) is the third longest river in South Korea.

It rises in the province of Chungcheongbuk -do and ends after 401 km into the Yellow Sea. He was probably already in the Bronze Age an important transport route.

In the region around Buyeo -gun he carries the name Baengmagang ( "river of white horses "). A well-known folk song, Kkumkkuneun Baengmagang ( 꿈꾸는 백마강, " Dreaming Baengmagang " ), sings this section of the river, where probably the historical kingdoms Mahan and Baekje were created.
