Geußnitz since 1 July 2009, a district of the town of Zeitz in Burgenland district, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

Geußnitz is located about six kilometers southeast of the city of Zeitz core.

For the former municipality Geußnitz belonged to the district of Born Wild.

History

Geußnitz had a baroque village church, whose ship was 1848/49 expanded in the Romanesque Revival style, while the tower from the old building was preserved. This was on October 25, 1795, the parents of the composer Robert Schumann, August Schumann and Christiane born beak from Zeitz, were married ( plaque at the church door ). The church building of 1849 was destroyed towards the end of the Second World War. The reconstruction was initially without a tower; only occupied the ground floor as a choir remained. Only after 1990, the tower floor including Baroque dome was restored.

Together with Döbris, Kayna, Nonnewitz and Würchwitz Geußnitz was incorporated on 1 July 2009 in the town of Zeitz.

Policy

Last Mayor of the municipality was on May 6, 2001, the first elected Daniela Hofmann.

Economy and infrastructure

In Geußnitz the Nuremberg tradition company Lyra chalk and cosmetic pencils are made in a branch plant. Lyra is the oldest German company that manufactures pencils and claims to not be produced in Asia. At the plant around 70 employees.

Traffic

At the federal highway 180 which Meuselwitz and Zeitz connects, there are approximately two kilometers.
