Ghana Stock Exchange
The Ghana Stock Exchange ( GSE) is the stock exchange of Ghana. In their GSE All- Share Index are now (2006 ) listed 28 values . The stock market was opened on 12 November 1990.
The focus is the mining company AngloGold Ashanti Ltd.. , 1994 through the merger of AngloGold Ltd.. and Ashanti Gold Fields Ltd.. has arisen with a market capitalization of about 79.1 billion cedi, which corresponds to about 7.1 billion euros (July 2006). The Ashanti Goldfields Ltd.. 1996 was the first African company that was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
Furthermore, among other cocoa processing and trading - companies, banks, breweries and a tobacco company are listed, so the index reached a market capitalization of around 97.2 trillion cedi, which is about 8.7 billion euros corresponds (as of July 2006). Since the start of trading was the GSE, as measured by the index of development, several times best young stock market.
For comparison, the German E.ON AG within the Dax -30 as a heavyweight with a market capitalization of € 61.39 billion, MAN AG as a smaller DAX stock market capitalization of € 7.67 billion (as at 19 July 2006 )
