Ghedi

Ghedi is a town with 18,611 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Italian region of Lombardy in the province of Brescia.

Geography

Neighboring municipalities are (clockwise) Borgosatollo and Castenedolo in the north, Montichiari in the east, in the southeast Calvisano, Gottolengo and Isorella in the south, southwest and Leno in Bagnolo Mella and Montirone in the northwest.

Military airfield

In Ghedi is a major military airfield of the Italian Air Force. The three-kilometer further east location, meanwhile civilian airport Brescia - Montichiari formed with the airfield Ghedi long time one of the largest military installations in Italy. In Ghedi a Tornado squadron is stationed, the U.S. can use as part of the so-called nuclear sharing nuclear bombs. These bombs are stored at Ghedi in bunkers.
