Gheorghe Ciolac

Gheorghe Ciolac ( born August 10, 1908 in Nagykomlós, Austria - Hungary, † April 13, 1965 in Timişoara, Timiş county ) was a Romanian football player. He played 116 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A, and participated in the World Cup 1930.

Career

Ciolac began playing football at the age of 14 years at Politehnica Timişoara. In 1924, he joined local rivals Banatul. With Banatul he played in the championship of the Timis region. Initially it was not possible to qualify for the final round of the Romanian football championship since the Romanian football was dominated mid -1920s by Chinezul Timişoara. Device only when Chinezul in financial difficulties could win the championship of Timişoara Ciolac with Banatul in 1929. In the subsequent finals by reaching the semi-finals he managed the hitherto greatest success.

In 1930 Ciolac Banatul left and joined the professional team of Ripensia Timişoara. Since the Romanian championship was at that time subject to the amateurs, the team wore from friendlies. At the foundation of the Romanian Professional Football League Divizia A in 1932 Ripensia was one of the founding members and Ciolac came on September 11, 1932 his first competitive game use for his new club. Since Ripensia was one of the best teams in the 1930s, Ciolac celebrated at this time as captain four league titles and two cup wins. In 1941, he finished his career.

National

Ciolac graduated from 1928 to 1937 a total of 24 games for the Romanian national team and scored 13 goals. He made his debut May 6, 1928 against Yugoslavia. In his second game against Bulgaria, he managed a hat-trick. In 1934, coach Josef Uridil him nominated for the FIFA World Cup in Italy, but did not put it in a single game against Romania, Czechoslovakia.
